Requirement for ethical approval varies substantially from country to country. This project involves following up prospectively patients starting treatment for epilepsy over a prolonged time period. The patients’ identities are protected by a code. In those countries where formal ethics approval needs to be obtained, there follows a completed draft UK ethics committee form, which will provide a template to allow this process to be easily accomplished. All the necessary information should be available for all investigators’ requirements. In some countries, it will not be necessary to present as much detail to the local research authorities.
